Regularly check your tyre pressure

Correct inflation improves fuel efficiency and extends tyre life — and takes a couple of minutes to check.

Regularly check your tyre pressure

Maintaining the health and performance of your vehicle is essential, and one thing that often gets overlooked is tyre pressure. Keeping your tyres inflated to the correct pressure improves fuel efficiency and extends the life of the tyre.

Why pressure matters

  • Poor fuel efficiency — underinflated tyres create more rolling resistance.
  • Uneven wear — overinflation wears the centre of the tread, underinflation wears the edges.
  • Reduced grip and handling — dangerous in wet or slippery conditions.

How to check it

  • Find the recommended pressure on the placard in the driver's door jamb or in the owner's manual.
  • Check when the tyres are cold — before driving, or at least three hours after.
  • Use a gauge, or call into either store and we'll check all four plus the spare for free.

How often

  • At least once a month, and before any long trip.
  • Don't forget the spare — a flat spare is no use at the roadside.
  • Ask us about nitrogen filling, which holds pressure far more consistently.
